“One may say an artist hides in abstraction.

I say, she is totally revealed.”

About

American abstract expressionist painter Ruth Gilmore Langs has been creating art throughout her entire life. Born in 1959 in a small Michigan town, she began her formal studies in traditional oil painting in Washington, DC. It was during her time painting, in California in the late 1990s, that Ruth transitioned into the world of abstract expressionism. For Gilmore Langs, the pursuit of abstraction is both a challenging and profoundly emotional journey — a journey that, she says, is as thrilling as it is demanding.
